Restores Smile to Child Lips

Royal Commission Hospital, Al-Jubail
A Plastic Surgery
restores smile to a child following
complicated operation in R.C.H. –
Jubail. The child had been suffering of
cleft lip since birth. It was a
congenital defect known as dissociation
in the upper lip. In this case holes
appear in the outer surface of the lip
and extend to the upper gum including
the bones of the upper jaw.
Regarding this operation
Dr. Salah Afifi the Plastic Surgery
Consultant said: The treatment of the
cleft lip is integral Teamwork usually
performs by the following group:
The surgery has been
done under the general anesthesia. The
goals of the surgery were to adjust the
functions of the mouth and the outer
shape in order to reach a condition
similar to the normality.
The Director General of
Health Services Department-Jubail: Mr.
Ibrahim Al-Muqari praised the success of
that operation and appreciated the
remarkable achievement that has been
done by a group of a distinguished
Consultants and Specialists in R.C.H. He
said “This is not the first time to
perform this kind of delicate Plastic
Surgery in the hospital”. He added “The
R.C. usually intends to provide Jubail
Community with high standard services
through a qualified Physicians and
latest medical equipment which are
available in R.C.H.
